General refurbishment of TMT tapping machines

This order repeatedly underlines the good partnership between voestalpine and TMT. Both parties are convinced that this investment will ensure the smooth running of the tapping process for the coming furnace journey of blast furnace 5.

The project requiring an intense coordination between the two parties includes the repair of 1 TMT Taphole Opener and 1 TMT Clay Gun as well as the delivery of spare parts for an additional machine pair. In order to ensure both greater safety and a more efficient tapping process the project also includes constructive changes in the TMT equipment.

During the first step, the spare machines, consisting of 1 TMT Taphole Opener and 1 TMT Clay Gun were overhauled by voestalpine itself with TMT providing the spare parts for the repair.

During the second step, the tapping machines currently in operation at blast furnace 5 were transported to TMT workshop in Siegen for the general overhaul carried out by TMT. At the same time, the repaired spare machines were installed at blast furnace 5 and put into operation.

The project was successfully completed in October 2023.

TMT would like to thank voestalpine for their renewed confidence in our staff and our technology.
