Successful final workshop test of TMT tapping equipment for TiZir, Tyssedal, Norway (TTI)

In order to guarantee its long and stable production of high-value titanium slag and high-purity pig iron in Tyssedal, Norway, TTI has chosen to repeatedly rely on TMT tapping equipment made in Germany. TMT machines withstand tapping conditions of enormous temperatures of 2000 °C.
In a detailed and final workshop test the machines could be successfully inspected and finally released for shipment.
Despite ‘‘COVID-19‘‘ TMT has managed to fully stick to the contractual time schedule.
The TMT scope of supply includes new full hydraulic Clay Gun and Taphole Drilling Machinery.
TTI, located in Tyssedal, on the shore of the Sørfjorden about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north of the town of Odda, Norway, was belonging to Eramet Group and acquired recently by Tronox.
Commissioning of the equipment supported by supervision of experienced TMT service personnel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.
