PAO Severstal relies on TMT

PAO Severstal is a vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining company with major assets in Russia as well as investments in other regions. In February 2018 PAO Severstal has placed the order with TMT for the supply of casthouse equipment to be installed at the new blast furnace #3, Cherepovets Plant, which is targeting a blow in in the year 2020.

The scope of supply comprises clay guns, tap hole openers and cover manipulators. Together with the tapping equipment also hydraulic power systems and electrical control system designed for auto-plugging and auto-tapping will be delivered by TMT. The tap hole drills feature TMT’s latest full hydraulic reverse hammer type TMT-BBG HS600 with on-line switchable power mode for best available tap hole protection on the market.

The blast furnace will also be equipped with a TMT 3D TopScan Probe. By use of this latest technology the complete burden charging is measured continuously in real time and the results are visualized with 3D charging layer model. This comprehensive charging information is the basis for process efficiency optimizations.

Furthermore, in November 2017 PAO Severstal also placed an order for new casthouse equipment to be installed on blast furnace #2 of Cherepovets Plant.

This project is very similar to the contract already executed by TMT for blast furnace #1 of Cherepovets Plant. Here the TMT equipment was installed during the relining campaign executed by Severstal during the summer months of 2017.

The above contracts highlight the close relationship established between the two companies in the last 25 years, during which TMT, as a worldwide technology leader with regard to tapping and measuring equipment, could qualify as the preferred lifecycle partner to PAO Severstal for casthouse equipment and blast furnace probes.

We are thankful and proud for the ongoing trust Severstal places in TMT by allowing us to be their key partner for Tapping and Measuring.
